These are two very special rings I made for my good friends Patti and Conrad. The first time Patti or Conrad saw either of these pieces was on their wedding day as they exchanged their vows. I was honoured to not only make these special rings for my beautiful friends, but to also be the ring bearer as she said, "I Do" on a perfect day in Fiji. Patti looked absolutely beautiful and the wedding was so much fun. I’m still breathing a sigh of relief that my small roll in this day went smoothly. I didn't fall over, the ring fit perfectly, and she loves it!
Conrad was also just as open and willing for me to create his custom ring with as much freedom as I wanted. Even though he originally just wanted a simple plain white gold band, I couldn’t settle for that. With a little help from Patti, I chose to surprise him with some fine custom engraving referencing his favourite symbolic animal, the lion.
I always feel a little bit anxious when making jewellery for friends and family. Especially when they give me so much creative freedom. Patti got to choose her own engagement and wedding ring, but instead of settling on a design, she just told me all the things she liked and disliked about jewellery and then left it up to me to interpret that into a ring. Then she decided she didn't want to see it until her wedding day! I'm not sure why I agreed to this but it ended up being quite fun to just play around at the bench with such freedom.
Patti's ring is a pear cut Pastel Pink Morganite set in 18 carat rose gold with rose and white gold diamond set leaf details in the shoulders.
